Our love for trains and the great American wilderness combines with our latest unique t-shirt design, featuring the K36 Mikado Steam Locomotive. This Narrow Gauge heavy freight steam locomotive was built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1925 and was used on the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad around the Marshall Pass, and later, around Alamosa.
Although only ten of these locomotives were ever built, they became a fan favourite for their bulky outside-frame design and sheer tractive power. The term Mikado refers to the wheel arrangement of these locomotives, and derived from the name given to Japanese steam locos of similar configuration.
